Thomas A. Russo
Partner
Gardner Russo & Gardner

Mr. Russo joined Gardner Russo & Gardner in 1989. He is a Partner in the firm overseeing $3B in total assets and is a General Partner of Semper Vic Partners, L.P. Prior to joining Gardner Russo & Gardner he spent four years as an analyst for Ruane Cuniff & Goldfarb’s Sequoia Fund.

Mr. Russo’s investment approach is focused on a small set of industries—including media and branded consumer goods—where he finds companies with reliably growing cash flows from “indispensable” and increasingly global brand franchises. He broadens this universe by including companies with smaller market capitalizations and companies in similar industries based abroad.

Mr. Russo is a graduate of Dartmouth College (B.A., 1977), and Stanford Business and Law Schools (JDJMBA, 1984). Memberships include California Bar Association and Board of Visitors for Stanford Law School. Mr. Russo is a charter member of the Advisory Board for the Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing at Columbia Business School.
